IDAC SPRING SYMPOSIUM
IDAC hosts its Emerging Clinical Issues in Infectious Diseases 2009 symposium, May 2–3, 2009, at the Westin Hotel in San Diego, CA. See Upcoming Symposia for details.

SHEA-CDC EPIDEMIOLOGY COURSE
IDAC is co-sponsoring the SHEA-CDC Fundamentals of Epidemiology Course to be offered Thursday, March 19, at the Sheraton Hotel & Marina in San Diego, CA. IDAC members can register at the advanced (Mar. 9) registration fee of $275 ($300 at the door). This course is scheduled to precede both the SHEA Annual Meeting and the IDSA Clinical Practice Meeting, both taking place in San Diego.

Meets New California Infection Control Requirement

In 2008, California enacted statutory requirements mandating that all physicians with responsibility for infection control or designated as a hospital epidemiologist in their hospitals receive specialized training in infection surveillance, prevention, and control by January 1, 2010. To meet this need, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) adapted its respected Training Course in Healthcare Epidemiology to a one-day curriculum.

IDSA CLINICAL PRACTICE MEETING
The Infectious Disease Society of the Americas brings its Clinical Practice Meeting to the West Coast, March 20–21, at the U.S. Grant Hotel. This two-day meeting will specifically address current trends affecting the practice of infectious diseases. By attending, you will learn ways to improve practice efficiency and increase profitability, so that you can concentrate on what you do best: providing quality patient care. Hear from experts about timely issues that are relevant to your work-including in-depth discussions on the future of the U.S. health care system, the role of the ID specialist in quality improvement, the challenges of human resource management, how to negotiate with infection control contracts, wound care management billing and coding, and how to resolve conflicts.

SHEA-CDC Epidemiology Course
The SHEA-CDC Epidemiology Course held last week, preceding SHEA, was a great success. There was 185 attendees, a quarter who were IDAC members.
