Founded in 1985, the Infectious Disease Association of California (IDAC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation providing continuing medical education to healthcare practitioners with an interest in clinical infectious disease, infection prevention and antibiotic stewaredship. Membership includes physicians, pharmacists, infection preventionists and others involved in clinical care and infection prevention, throughout the state of California.

Advocacy
IDAC monitors and advices policy-makers on public health issues related to infectious diseases. IDAC has been a major advocate of antimicrobial stewardship in healthcare facilities and has conducted workshops throughout the state in order to help healthcare facilities implement procedures to reduce hospital-acquired infections, to improve patient care, to meet the legislative requirements and to decrease patient costs.

IDAC offers a mentoring program for Infectious Disease Fellows-in-Training interested in clinical practice. IDAC membership is offered to ID Fellows-in-Training at no cost.
